Dear guests and exhibitors, representatives of professional public, colleagues,
Welcome to the 55th Home Fair at the GR - Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.
I am very glad and honoured to greet President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Borut Pahor, and Mr. Zoran Janković, Mayor of the City Municipality of Ljubljana.
Among us I also greet representatives of the Diplomatic Corps in Slovenia.
Fairs remain the magnet which have attracted the majority of 350,000 annual visitors to the Convention Centre Ljubljana. These people are attracted by tradition, the demonstration of latest trends in respective branches, discounts and other bonuses which we prepare together with exhibitors, and an interesting and vast accompanying programme.
We are especially proud of the 55-year tradition of the Home Fair. Because as the biggest fair in construction within Slovenia and neighbouring regions it takes place in Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre and because, apart from the Wine Fair, it is the oldest and the biggest fair we organize. On 20,000 square metres of exhibition surfaces it fills all existing halls at Dunajska Street plus three prefabricated halls. This year, 517 companies from 32 countries present various services and products, systemic solutions and advanced technologies for the home, construction and energy-efficient builders’ joinery, heating and cooling technology, interior furnishings, security and landscaping.
55 years of Home Fair equals 55 years of key solutions - experiences, knowledge, tradition and the latest achievements in construction. And especially its presentations at the fair where one can get an overview of everything on market and directly consult the producer who certainly knows the most about his product. The accompanying programme really brings key solutions: from the procedures of acquisition of administrative concessions, advice by architect and structural engineer, energy renovation projects, sustainable heating and planning, building or renovation of traditional, architectural heritage, passive and almost zero-energy buildings to living environment and demonstration of latest trends and novelties.
At the GR - Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre we encourage the latest trends of green, sustainable construction with environmental awards Plaque of Quality in Construction, which will be awarded in a few minutes by Mr President. Ljubljana - the Green European Capital 2016 noticed our endeavours and became the sponsor of this year’s fair. Together we encourage green mobility in visiting the fair.
The accompanying programme with over 120 lectures by independent experts is up-to-date and sustainability-oriented, too. Each year it is prepared by the Construction Institute ZRMK, consulting network ENSVET – Eko fund, the Association of wood-processing and furniture industry at the Slovenian Chamber of Economy and the Department for Wood Processing at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana with partners. The latter will tomorrow organize the 4th Development day of forest and wood sector, where they will present to professional and wider public the diversity and width of developmental activities in forest-wood chain and possibilities for businesses to become actively involved in domestic and foreign development projects. There are several professionally oriented events, and I want to mention two: the first one will take place tomorrow, focusing of a whole renovation of cultural heritage buildings, and on Friday the topic is the renovation of buildings in almost zero-energy standard - both discussions are organized by the Construction Institute ZRMK.
Especially priceless for the visitors is free consulting on construction, renovation, efficient use of energy and reusable resources, and possibilities of loans and co-financing of environmentally friendly investments. Here, independent experts give quite concrete answers to questions such as which windows or doors to choose and why, what is the efficiency of contemporary heating appliances and how to reach standards of almost zero-energy houses under the regulations we will have to comply with after two or four years … All these are the reasons why the fair is so popular and visited by about 55,000 people.
It is no coincidence that the last trends in construction are ever more closely connected with the concepts of ‘green’, ‘sustainable’ and ‘0-energy’. These are the guidelines of profession as well as producers themselves. The state is directing he steps of sustainable construction. Now it is our turn that as a fair organizer we reach out to user - the fair visitor. To give him credible information about how green solutions bring short-time return; how we can get sustainable quality, not always for the lowest price, but certainly for a reasonable one. There are more than enough such products and solutions at the exhibition spaces as well as in the accompanying programme. Sincere congratulations to all of you who are building the 55th Home Fair together with us. We wish you a continued success, in the next days and throughout the year!
